Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Create Technical Drawings: Produce detailed 2D drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD
- Collaborate with Professionals: Work closely with engineers, architects, and designers to understand project requirements, gather design specifications, and ensure design intent is accurately translated into plans.
- Calculate Dimensions and Materials: Determine precise dimensions, measurements, weight limitations, and material requirements for non-structural components or systems.
- Review and Revise Designs: Prepare and review rough sketches and schematics, incorporating feedback from project teams and making necessary modifications to existing drawings.
- Ensure Compliance: Verify that all designs comply with relevant building codes, industry standards, and quality regulations.
- Prepare Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation packages, including material lists, technical reports, operation manuals, and workflow diagrams.
- Conduct Site Visits: Occasionally visit project sites to take measurements, collect data, or verify that the work is progressing according to plans.
- Archive Documents: Organize and maintain a system for filing and archiving design documents and blueprints for future reference and maintenance.
KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling software, knowledge of industry-specific drafting standards, understanding of engineering or architectural principles.
Soft Skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy, communication skills, time management, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Foundational Strong mathematical skills (geometry, trigonometry, algebra), ability to interpret technical handbooks and data.
