Automation Engineer

This announcement is for an Automation Engineer serving as part of an Integration Support Team supporting an active U.S. Army contract with full-time onsite work at Fort Gordon, Georgia. The primary responsibility of the Automation Engineer is to develop, support, and maintain playbooks and modules, administer infrastructure, deploy servers, network devices, and capabilities, and provide subject matter expertise in support of automating processes. The position requires expertise in Ansible and one or more of the following: Terraform, Salt, Vagrant, or Packer. Potential project areas include automation solutions for developing, configuring, and administering the DevSecOps pipeline environment and automation solutions to support virtualized Information Technology environments.

Required Skills:

  • Work is on-site at Fort Gordon, GA
  • Current and Valid DOD 8140/8570 IAT Level II Certification
  • Active Top Secret SCI security clearance
  • 10+ years of experience with a Masters, 12+ years with a Bachelors, or 16+ years with a high school diploma, performing System Administration on Linux systems. Degree needs to be in an IT related field, i.e.: Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or Information Technology
  • 3+ years of experience in developing Ansible playbooks for automation and administration as well as Terraform, Salt, Vagrant, or Packer.
  • Able to use Ansible and other automation tools for administering Red Hat Linux, Windows, VMware, and other operating systems and virtual environments.
  • Experience with automating container technologies (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using system automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible or Terraform
  • DevOps and CI/CD using DevOps pipelines, workflows, and repositories
  • Fluent in at least one programming and scripting language (Python, C+, shell)
  • Experience with source code control systems (GitLab/bitbucket)
  • Familiar with configuring and operating virtualization platforms

Preferred Skills:

  • Current and Valid DOD 8140/8570 IAT Level III Certification
  • M.S. Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or Information Technology
  • RHCSA, Linux+, or equivalent
  • Ability to research unique issues and apply troubleshooting techniques
  • Familiarity with DoD Defensive Cyber Operations tools and capabilities
  • Ability to work and accomplish tasks with minimal or general guidance

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
