Automation Engineer

Distributor, converter, and manufacturer of non-woven textiles located in McHenry is looking for a Process Engineer. This is an important salary position at a growing company that really appreciates, values, recognizes and rewards employees. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 to 5 years’ experience of process engineering in manufacturing, be able to persuade others to change existing practices, have strong attention to detail, and be a self-starter.

Reporting to the Operations Manager the job responsibilities include:

1) Work with the Operations Manager and Production Lead Team to increase process speed, reduce labor cost through production process improvement.

2) Current production processes include die-cutting, slitting, laminating, ultrasonic welding, sewing, and packaging.

3) Work with the Operations Manager and Production Lead Team to increase process speed, reduce labor cost by utilizing semi or fully automated production equipment, machine automation.

4) Help troubleshoot and fix production process problems, bottlenecks.

5) Work with the Operations Manager, Production Lead Team, and Accounting to develop production processes, systems to record production hours, materials used, materials produced, for use in analyzing output, job costing and production efficiency.

6) Conduct continuing research to recommend new equipment, automation, and new, improved production processes.

7) Handles other projects or tasks as assigned.

The experience, skills and education needed to be successful include:

· 5-10 years of experience in production process engineering.

· Experience Implementing automation

· Experience in non-metallic fabrication, manufacturing, nonwoven textiles is a plus.

· Familiarity with PLC programming

· Ability to persuade others to change existing practices.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Hands on and mechanically inclined.

· Self-starter, pro-active and shows initiative.

· Meet project deadlines and achieve targeted results.

· Team player.

· Effective written and verbal communication skills.

· Being bi-lingual English & Spanish is very helpful but not required.

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
