Automation Engineer Level 2 or 3

Job Responsibilities:

●       Develop electrical/mechanical controls system design solutions based on engineering principles and relevant codes to fulfill customer requirements.

●       Work with the team to design, build, and implement those solutions. This includes:

o   Developing schematics

o   Reviewing bill of materials

o   Writing PLC, HMI, Servo, and robot programs

o   Designing safety control circuits

o   Documenting and testing system

o   Implementing solution at customer site

●       Provide on-site technical controls support to customers including PLC, HMI, VFD, and Servo programming as well as general control system troubleshooting

●       Act as project leader and take responsibility for success of automation projects ensuring projects are completed accurately, on-time and within budget while maintaining accurate records and files.

●       Ability to design, build and integrate automation solutions including in-house build and on-site installs, from start to finish.   

●       Interpret customer requirements, identify and address design parameters and engineering challenges based on customer communications and observation of processes.

●       Develop and nurture customer relationships to ensure future project success.

●       Assist in training and developing skills of junior engineers.

●       Maintain well documented records of project work and customer correspondence.

Requirements:

●       Applicants must be a citizen of the United States

●       8+ years of related job experience

●       Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering or similar related degree

●       Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments.

●       Proactive, resourceful, highly motivated with good communication skills and the ability to work long hours in a fast-paced environment.

●       Ability to work independently with little or no input from supervisor. Applicant should also have the ability to learn new software and technical topics quickly on their own.

●       Ability to balance multiple projects and responsibilities.

●       Travel as required for customer project support.

Technical Requirements:

●       Proficient in Allen Bradley control software platforms. Siemens TIA Portal experience would be a plus. 

●       Ability to create schematics. Experience with AutoCAD Electrical Schematic software is a plus.

●       Capable of modifying industrial robotic systems. Preference will be given to candidates with Fanuc, ABB, or Kuka robot programming experience.

●       Knowledgeable on safety standards and implementing safety systems. Programming safety controllers experience would be a plus.

●       Experience with additional control software platforms. SCADA and reporting systems knowledge would be a benefit.

●       Familiarity with 3D Modeling (Autodesk Inventor), pneumatics, hydraulics, and vision systems would be preferred.
