1. Electrical & Automation System Design and Maintenance

  • Design, install, and commission electrical and automation systems on marine vessels and offshore platforms.
  • Perform regular maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, PLCs, and automation equipment.
  • Ensure optimal performance of shipboard electrical systems, including generators, switchboards, transformers, and motors.

2. PLC Programming & SCADA System Management

  • Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC and SCADA systems used in marine automation.
  • Integrate automation systems with shipboard machinery, propulsion systems, ballast systems, and power management.
  • Optimize and upgrade existing PLC programs to improve system efficiency and reliability.

3. Troubleshooting & Fault Diagnosis

  • Diagnose faults in electrical and automation systems, including PLCs, motor control centers (MCC), and control panels.
  • Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and PLC programming software to analyze and resolve issues.
  • Provide technical support for urgent system failures during vessel operations or dry-dock maintenance.

4. Compliance & Safety Standards

  • Ensure electrical and automation systems comply with UAE regulations, marine classification societies (DNV, ABS, BV), and international maritime standards (IEC, IEEE, IMO).
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure safety measures are followed for electrical and automation work.
  • Implement and enforce LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures for electrical and PLC systems.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare technical documentation, system schematics, and wiring diagrams for electrical and automation systems.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, system modifications, and troubleshooting reports.
  • Provide reports on system performance, failures, and recommendations for upgrades or improvements.

6. Team Collaboration & Training

  • Work closely with marine engineers, shipbuilders, and project managers to integrate electrical and automation systems into vessels.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to junior engineers and electrical technicians.
  • Assist in commissioning and sea trials for new and retrofitted marine automation systems.
