Automation Project Manager

On site role based in Indianapolis or Kentucky

We’re looking for an Automation Project Manager to join a team delivering building automation and HVAC control projects from initial handover through to successful completion.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who understands building automation systems, enjoys leading projects, and can build strong long-term relationships with customers, internal teams, and field personnel. The role combines technical understanding, commercial responsibility, coordination, and customer-facing leadership, so it suits someone who is confident managing both the detail and the bigger picture.

You will act as a key point of contact during project execution, helping to ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to a high standard. You’ll be involved in reviewing estimates, managing turnovers, coordinating with operations and field teams, supporting procurement, and keeping projects moving in the right direction. You’ll also play an important part in identifying opportunities for repeat business and cross-selling where appropriate.

Key responsibilities

• Manage automation and HVAC projects from turnover through to final delivery.
• Act as the main point of contact for customers during project execution.
• Review estimates, scope documents, control submittals, and re-estimates where required.
• Support scheduling, field labour coordination, and project meetings.
• Initiate and lead turnover meetings with engineering, field, and operations teams.
• Manage project documentation, financial tracking, revenue forecasting, and reporting.
• Support procurement of subcontracts and ensure the correct commercial process is followed.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to support repeat business.
• Work with engineering and field teams to deliver practical solutions to customer needs.
• Help ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and profitably.

What we’re looking for

• Experience in automation, building controls, HVAC systems, or related project management.
• Background in estimating and managing automation projects.
• Strong customer relationship and communication skills.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to manage project finances.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders.
• Confidence working with internal teams, contractors, and clients.
• A proactive, team-focused approach with a positive attitude.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s licence required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
