Automation Systems Modeling Engineer

Job Summary
A successful Automation Systems Modeling Engineer will strive for excellence in client satisfaction and enjoy troubleshooting. This role will support our clients across the business. This role is an integral part of our client-focused business model as clients are the foundation of our business.

Qualification, Education, and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, or software engineering from an accredited university, or equivalent experience. A master’s degree will also be considered.
  • 10 Years of Experience preferably in the Material Handling Industry, with a focus on conveyance, sortation, automated storage and retrieval, and fixed and mobile robotics applications
  • Proficiency with CAD software applications such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, and SolidWorks
  • Proficiency with Digital Twin software platforms, including Emulate3D or Process Simulate
  • Proficiency with development in Visual Studio (C++, C#)
  • Familiarity with R, Python, and Excel for data analysis and reporting, along with SQL-based RDBMS systems
  • Familiarity with Rockwell, Siemens, and Beckhoff PLC programming a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 15% to support sales, project design and engineering efforts.

Essential Job Functions

  • Travel to SAVOYE NORTH AMERICA office locations to support sales and engineering teams with intralogistics simulation and emulation efforts.
  • Evaluation and transformation of automated intralogistics systems layouts into physics-based 3D models (CAD to Model).
  • Configuration and development of intralogistics models to accurately reflect the operation of the equipment within the model (shuttles, cranes, conveyors, sortation, robotics, AMRs, etc.).
  • Produce required documentation and reporting for simulations, including system performance analysis, equipment performance, reliability, availability, and systems utilization.
  • Working closely with our sales and engineering teams to support modifications to systems based on results of simulation analysis.
  • Working closely with the software engineering team to build interfaces to SAVOYE NORTH AMERICA’s Advanced Software platform allowing accurate models to be executed.
  • Support controls engineering and software engineering teams with emulation modeling and testing to perform full system integration testing before field deployment.
  • Process ownership for modeling development as well as version control of models, including all components, source code, scripts, and data.
  • Support the Advanced Technologies group in building models for SAVOYE NORTH AMERICA’s product lines.
  • Complete weekly time entry and expense reports

Working Conditions

  • This position may require occasional travel to SAVOYE NORTH AMERICA office locations.
  • Most tasks, projects, and communication with clients, team members, and Managers will be completed using a telephone, microphone, computer, and video technology.
  • Long periods of speaking, sitting, standing, typing, and may be required.
  • Although this is a full-time, Exempt position (40 hours per week), extended hours and evenings may be required based on client needs.
