Overview
The Florida Sheriffs Risk Management Fund (FSRMF) seeks an experienced adjuster for the position of Automobile Claims Adjuster. The Automobile Claims Adjuster is responsible for handling various types of automobile claims, from first report to closure, that may be made by or against our Members, including first and third-party Property Damage claims, Liability claims and Subrogation claims.
Responsibilities
- Has a working knowledge of Member's coverages and exclusions
- Examines coverage agreements and works with Member Services to determine coverage
- Determines Member deductible
- Reviews police reports, witness statements, accident reports, videos, black box data, GPS locater data, appraisals, repair estimates, repair bills, and salvage estimates
- Requests additional information for completion of claims processing, as necessary
- Evaluates first and third-party property damage, liability and subrogation claims and determines appropriate course of action
- Communicates with claimant’s counsel
- Coordinates with defense counsel and manages litigation
- Travels to attend mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Evaluates and documents a detailed settlement analysis
- Negotiates settlement of claims within designated authority
- Settles claims within settlement authority
- Establishes and updates reserves within assigned authority, including completion of a detailed reserve rationale to reflect claim exposure
- Proactively manages assigned caseload with documented plans of action to ensure a timely and appropriate resolution
- Timely and meaningful documentation of claim activity in the claim file notes
- Issues checks to Claimants, Members, repair shops, claimants, rental car agencies, and vendors in a timely manner
- Maintains an active diary on all open claims
- Timely filing of all documentation in Laserfiche
- Works with repair shops to oversee timely repair of vehicle at appropriate price
- Evaluates auto appraisals and repair estimates
- Identifies and pursues workers compensation claims and automobile physical damage claims files with subrogation potential
- Reviews vehicle damage estimates and appraisals to determine the extent of
- Works with rental car companies to ensure claimants have a vehicle while their vehicles are being repaired
- Coordinates the disposal of salvaged vehicles
Requirements
- Florida Licensed Adjuster - All Lines
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Proven ability to evaluate and resolve physical damage claims
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and maintain diaries
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to think critically, solve problems, plan, organize, and prioritize activities
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- High school graduate
Preferences
- At least 3 years of automobile adjusting experience involving physical damage claims
- Bachelor’s Degree
- An effective self-starter who requires little supervision
- General knowledge of automobile repair terminology, litigation terminology and procedures related to claims adjusting
- Experience with claims management software systems such as Origami
- Strong analytic and process management skills

- The candidate offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
- This is an in-house position with FSRMF located in Tallahassee, FL; it is not a remote position.
- Ability to travel as required.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
