Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Body & Fabrication Worker to join our talented team. The ideal candidate is a true craftsman who takes pride in their work, thrives on complex restoration challenges, and understands the patience and precision required for classic vehicle aesthetics.
Key Responsibilities
- Metal Fabrication: Cut, shape, bend, and form sheet metal to repair or replace rusted, damaged, or obsolete body panels.
- Welding: Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welding on various gauges of steel and aluminum.
- Body Restoration: Execute complete rust repair, panel alignment, lead work, and dent pulling to achieve factory-perfect or custom contours.
- Assembly & Fitment: Disassemble and reassemble classic vehicles, ensuring all custom and original trim, glass, and panels fit seamlessly.
- Quality Control: Collaborate with painters and the shop manager to ensure the bodywork is flawlessly prepped for the paint booth.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in automotive body repair and custom fabrication (classic car restoration experience is highly preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficient with fabrication equipment (English wheel, planishing hammer, bead roller, brake, and shear) and welding tools.
- Attention to Detail: A sharp eye for gaps, body lines, and surface imperfections.
- Problem Solving: Ability to figure out custom solutions for rare parts that cannot be bought off the shelf.
- Tools: Must possess your own basic set of bodywork and hand tools.
