At Shields Professional Vehicles, our reputation for quality is built on the care and expertise of our team. As an Automotive Buffer/Detailer, you’ll play a key role in making sure our vehicles look their best before they reach our customers. Your work will help maintain the high standards that funeral professionals rely on. This is a hands-on job where you’ll be working directly on vehicles every day with an expectation to complete one to two cars per day depending upon priorities across both buffing and detailing.
Key Responsibilities
Buffing and Polishing
- Buff fresh paint from the body shop to achieve a smooth, flawless finish.
- Wet sand and polish painted surfaces to remove imperfections.
- Apply wax to vehicles and buff surfaces to enhance shine and protection.
- Prepare surfaces by removing minor overspray with rubbing clay.
Cleaning and Detailing
- Wash all surfaces of vehicles including wheels using cleaning solutions, cloths, and pressure washers.
- Steam clean the engine and engine compartment to remove grease and grime.
- Clean door jambs, windows, and mirrors inside and out.
- Vacuum interiors, clean upholstery, and treat surfaces with protectants.
Inspection and Quality Assurance
- Check each vehicle to make sure it looks great and meets our standards.
- Communicate any potential issues to management to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Report any safety concerns or conditions that could affect the dealership, employees, or customers.
Miscellaneous
- Assist body shop employees as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform minor upholstery repairs when needed
- Drive vehicles to third-party repair shops
- Take photographs of vehicles
What We Look For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clean driving record
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- You should be able to lift 50 lbs sometimes, 30 lbs often, and 10 lbs regularly.
- Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, and in a shop environment around vehicles and equipment.
- Basic communication and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to high-quality work.
- As part of the interview, you will need to buff 2-3 car panels to show your skills.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
