Job Overview
Mazda of Port Charlotte is seeking an experienced A-Level Automotive Technician to join our high-performing service department. This role is designed for a technician with advanced diagnostic capability, strong technical judgment, and a proven ability to solve complex mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, trusted with difficult jobs, and committed to delivering accurate repairs the first time.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdvanced Diagnostics & Repair
- Perform complex vehicle diagnostics using OEM and advanced aftermarket diagnostic tools
- Diagnose and repair drivability, electrical, engine performance, transmission, and network communication issues
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical service information to isolate faults accurately
- Perform advanced mechanical repairs including engine, transmission, steering, suspension, HVAC, and electrical systems
Quality, Efficiency & Standards
- Complete repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and dealership quality standards
- Maintain high productivity while minimizing comebacks and repeat repairs
- Road test vehicles as necessary to confirm proper repair and performance
Process & Documentation
- Document diagnostic findings, repair procedures, and recommendations accurately in the RO
- Communicate clearly with Service Advisors regarding vehicle condition, required repairs, and preventive maintenance
- Assist with mentoring and technical guidance for junior technicians when needed
Shop Operations & Safety
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialty equipment safely and effectively
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area
- Follow all safety, compliance, and dealership policies
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on automotive technician experience required
- Proven A-Technician–level diagnostic and repair capability
- Strong electrical diagnostic skills and ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics
- ASE Master Certification and/or manufacturer certifications preferred (Mazda experience a strong plus, not required)
- Comfortable performing heavy mechanical work and lifting as required
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Own tools required (specialty and diagnostic tools provided by dealership)
