Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics using automotive diagnostic tools to identify issues accurately across various systems such as electrical, transmission, and engine components.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on diverse vehicle makes and models, including diesel engines and GM vehicles.
- Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot complex electrical systems and ADAS features like lane assist and collision avoidance.
- Repair or replace powertrain components, transmissions, wheel alignments, and perform wheel balancing to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other specialized equipment to complete repairs efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
- Conduct vehicle inspections for maintenance needs or safety concerns; perform oil changes, brake repairs, tire rotations, and other routine services.
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repair procedures clearly and offering recommendations for ongoing vehicle maintenance or service estimates.
Requirements
- Proven dealership or service shop experience as an Automotive Technician or Service Technician.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in automotive repair across various systems including electrical, powertrain, transmissions, and diesel engines.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals; familiarity with automotive diagnostics tools is essential.
- Experience working with ADAS technology and performing wheel alignments; knowledge of automotive electrical systems is a plus.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a customer-focused attitude; previous auto estimating experience is advantageous.
- Valid certification in automotive repair; ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or equivalent is preferred.
- Knowledge of GM vehicles or diesel engine repair is a bonus; familiarity with dealership procedures is highly valued.
