Automotive Technician Electric Vehicle

Duties

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics on electric vehicle electrical systems, including battery packs, powertrains, inverters, and charging components using automotive diagnostic tools and schematics.
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance on EV-specific parts such as high-voltage wiring, motors, controllers, and regenerative braking systems.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools to replace or repair mechanical components like transmissions, axles, suspension parts, and brakes tailored for EVs.
  • Interpret technical schematics and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot complex electrical issues efficiently.
  • Perform wheel alignments and vehicle maintenance procedures to ensure optimal handling and safety standards.
  • Diagnose issues related to ADAS features such as lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and collision avoidance systems.
  • Maintain detailed service records, complete auto estimating tasks accurately, and communicate effectively with customers about repairs needed or completed.

Experience

  • Tekmetric experience preferred
  • Proven dealership or automotive service technician experience with a strong background in automotive electrical systems and diagnostics.
  • Hands-on experience working with GM vehicles or similar brands is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with automotive repair processes including engine repair (gasoline or diesel), transmission servicing, welding, and general maintenance.
  • Knowledge of automotive schematics, powertrain components, wheel alignment procedures, and vehicle safety systems.
  • Prior experience working with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and electric vehicle-specific technology is highly desirable.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
