Auxiliary Teacher

The Auxiliary Teacher will provide support to the teachers, students, and parents on a daily basis. This role will be dedicated to fostering a supportive and effective learning environment for all students.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a substitute teacher for regular teachers and co-teach on days a substitute teacher is not needed.
  • Design lesson plans based upon curriculum, grading, and all teaching responsibilities in line with state and national standards.
  • Create report cards and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner.
  • Support the instructional program with live web conferencing sessions.
  • Communicate with parents, students, and other teachers on a regular basis to develop and update curriculum, provide feedback on student work.
  • Work collaboratively with Departments to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through course work and established goals are being met, and students and families are receiving appropriate communications.
  • Provide students and parents with additional assistance for daily assignments and projects.
  • Keep student records and data up to date, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance accounting, and logging all student and parent contacts.
  • Consult and collaborate with Special Education team members to develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications to students’ programs to increase student understanding.
  • Proctor state and local testing.
  • Complete additional duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a Level I or II Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in General Education subjects such as English, Math, Science, and/or Social Studies.
  • Experience working with students in an exclusively online environment is preferred but not required.

Competencies

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, parents/guardians, and staff.
  • Proficient use of technology such as Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, different LMS.
  • A proven track record to successfully build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan and work collaboratively.
  • Ability to be flexible and vary hours to accommodate needs of students, parents/guardians, other teachers, and state mandated requirements.
  • Positive and encouraging outlook.

  • Act 168 Disclosure/Release
  • Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training
