Job Title – Auxiliary Teacher (ALSDE Grant Funded)

Job Goal:
Minimum Qualifications:
Possess a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) OR at least 9 hours of college coursework in the field of Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a regionally accredited institution.
Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
Ability and willingness to work in a highly demanding, stressful environment.
Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication with students, parents and others.
Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
Physical strength, agility, dexterity, acuity and mobility to perform job responsibilities.
Ability to use technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
Ability to follow instructions and accept constructive feedback.
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and assist with student toileting and specific hygiene needs.
Ability to transfer students, feed students, and provide physical support and intervention when required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Demonstrates support for the system mission, goals and priorities.
Works efficiently under the direction of a certified employee.
Participateswater in preparing lesson plans with the classroom teacher.
Assists the classroom teacher in student assessments as assigned.
Works with individuals and groups of students as assigned.
Assist in management of classroom behavior.
Assists with non-instructional duties such as snacks, lunch, and personal hygiene needs of students as directed by the classroom teacher.
Uses effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
Performs clerical tasks, including inventory, filing, typing, and care for equipment and materials.
Models and maintains high ethical standards.
Attends referral, SRIP, and/or IELP meetings on individual students as needed.
Attends eligibility meetings on individual students as needed.
Confers with resource consultants, supervisors, coordinators, teachers and parents/guardians as requested.
Tracks data on student progress as required.
Monitors student progress of program implementation, evaluates results, and recommends changes and improvements.
Attends staff meetings as requested.
Reviews federal and state regulations and other information applicable to the program area(s), including, but not limited to the Literacy Act, Numeracy Act, etc.
Assists teachers in implementing instructional strategies and in developing and implementing SRIP, IELP’s, IEPs and 504’s.
Participates successfully in workshops, training programs, professional development, including any training mandated by federal and/or state requirements, or other learning to increase skill and proficiency related to job performance and leadership.
Assists school system staff with the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the effectiveness of assessment programs for students.
Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
Reports to work in a punctual manner and attends work regularly.
Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and discretion in solving problems.
Promotes public and community support for the school and school system by performing job duties and interacting with students, parents, staff, and the public courteously and proactively.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
Terms of Employment: As established by the Board and applicable state law.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
