The AV Designer at Illuminated Integration is a big-picture thinker who enjoys shaping the concept and direction of a project before technical engineering begins. This role is focused on creativity, early-stage planning, and high-impact design decisions that drive performance, user experience, and cost outcomes. It is not a deep engineering role. Instead, it is about imagining how the system should function, exploring different design paths, and producing strong conceptual models and visualizations that guide the rest of the project team.

You will work at the front end of the project process. Your work will include modeling environments, visualizing system approaches, planning overall system philosophies, and identifying the large design decisions that influence budget, scope, and implementation.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop high-level AV system concepts that define functionality, user experience, and overall system approach.
  • Create conceptual models and visualizations, including room layouts, AV coverage models, and environmental simulations.
  • Identify major cost drivers early in design and evaluate alternative system paths.
  • Produce narrative-level documents and drawings that communicate system intent and design direction.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and architects to ensure alignment between concept, scope, and project goals.
Qualifications:
  • 3 plus years of experience in AV system design, engineering support, or related audiovisual project roles.
  • Strong technical understanding of audio, video, control, and networked AV systems.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or Vectorworks for the creation of AV design documents and conceptual layouts.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Certifications such as CTS or CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist-Design) would be an added advantage.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package, including a benefits plan.
  • 50% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 15 days of paid time off (starting)
  • 9 paid holidays
  • 401(k) eligibility after 6 months of employment with a company match
  • Career growth opportunities
  • Opportunities for career advancement through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Collaborative and inclusive company culture.
The AV Designer role is best suited for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced, technologically driven environment and who is eager to make a significant contribution in an industry-leading organization.
