    Job Summary
    The AV Equipment Repair Technician/Truck Driver performs maintenance and minor repairs of computers and audio visual equipment, and delivers parts and equipment throughout the Anchorage School District. Maintenance employees work a Monday through Friday schedule with weekends and holidays off.     Job Requirements
    The following are required:
    • A high school diploma or equivalent, or current enrollment in a GED program.
    • A minimum of one year of experience within the past six years in the field of repairing computers, printers, and audio-visual equipment is required. Work experience must evidence ability to perform tasks assigned. Professional certification or training may be considered in lieu of work experience.
    • Must possess valid Alaska driver's license.

    The following are preferred:
    • Training or experience with computers, electronics, and audio/visual equipment.
    • Two years of experience in truck driving or delivery work. Work experience must evidence ability to perform tasks assigned.
    • Basic knowledge of electronics, computers, and audio-visual equipment.
    • Knowledge of hand tools and their usage.

    Essential Job Functions
    • Loads and unloads equipment and supplies on trucks and makes deliveries to units and schools according to a prescribed schedule.
    • Picks up and delivers parts and equipment to and from vendors.
    • Performs routine preventative maintenance, cleaning, and minor repair of computers and audio-visual equipment during the summer months.
    • Performs minor repair and cleaning of computers and audio-visual equipment in schools during the normal course of pickups and deliveries during the school year.
    • Performs repairs of computers, both Windows and Macintosh, and A/V equipment in the repair shop.
    • Safely and skillfully operates vans, trucks, step vans, and other vehicles as needed.
    • Maintains equipment files, completes maintenance request forms, and logs data.
    • Safely follows traffic laws as they apply to the operation of trucks.
    • Provides excellent customer service, using critical thinking skills necessary for troubleshooting.
    • Works cooperatively with others within established shop guidelines.
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others.

    Physical /Mental Demands

    The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, be able to readily recall facts and details, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.

    Work Environment
    Work is performed in a professional environment with a wide variety of individuals having differing functions, personalities and abilities, including working with diverse groups of people in a variety of different settings.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee may be regularly exposed to a video display. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
