Aviation Communications Transcriber (ATC)

About The Role

We're building next-generation AI systems for aviation and autonomous flight — and we need people who actually understand what's being said on the radio.

This is a specialized transcription role for pilots, air traffic controllers, and aviation enthusiasts. You'll work with real-world ATC and pilot audio recordings, turning complex, fast-paced radio communications into high-quality transcriptions that directly train aviation AI.

  • Type: Hourly / Task-Based Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Transcribe real-world Air Traffic Control (ATC) ↔ pilot audio recordings with precision
  • Label speakers, callsigns, instructions, and pilot responses accurately
  • Capture aviation terminology, abbreviations, and standard phraseology correctly
  • Complete task-based assignments on your own schedule
  • Meet quality and accuracy benchmarks — this work directly impacts aviation safety AI

Who You Are

You don't need to be a professional transcriptionist — but you do need to genuinely understand aviation radio communications.

You're a Great Fit If You Are

  • A licensed pilot, student pilot, or certified Air Traffic Controller
  • An aviation professional with radio communications experience
  • An aviation enthusiast who regularly listens to live or recorded ATC
  • Someone who can distinguish callsigns, clearances, and read-backs without hesitation
  • Extremely detail-oriented and patient with audio work

Key Qualities

  • Deep familiarity with ICAO/FAA aviation phraseology
  • Ability to parse fast, noisy, real-world radio transmissions
  • High accuracy standards and strong self-editing habits
  • Reliable and self-motivated in an async work environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with transcription tools or annotation platforms
  • Familiarity with AI data labeling workflows
  • Exposure to instrument procedures, ATC facility operations, or dispatch environments
