POSITION SUMMARY:

The Aviation Sourcing Consultant plays a vital role in sourcing aircraft for programs and charter clients. From negotiating competitive pricing with aircraft operators to ensuring the highest safety standards, they manage a seamless process to match each mission with the ideal aircraft.

Working closely with the sourcing team and sales staff, they strive to exceed profitability goals by building strong operator relationships, optimizing flight schedules, and maximizing revenue through strategic empty-leg sales. Additionally, they collaborate with other departments to troubleshoot operational challenges, streamline workflows, and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as subject matter expert internally and for our operator network.

  • Explore, nurture and cultivate operator partnerships and vet new supply opportunities.

  • Source and book aircraft for both Member and Charter flight requests.

  • Negotiate rates/quotes with operators (one offs or bulk buying, fixed rates, etc.)

  • Optimize lines of flying to reduce empty legs, matchup trips.

  • Identify/negotiate owned empty legs and escalate to the Team Lead.

  • Log and manage client preferences; ensuring they’re accounted for when organizing trips.

  • Ensure Data within CRM system is up to date.

  • Prioritize trip urgencies to ensure timely deliveries. (i.e., proactive sourcing during busier flight seasons)

  • Ensure all crews and aircraft sourced for clients meet Magellan Jets safety standards.

  • Communicate all potential problems to Team lead and appropriate other personnel.

  • Balance the trip experience with strong GP margins for Magellan Jets.

  • Develop an understanding of aircraft categories per membership jet card types.

  • Be available to the team during on-call hours (Rota system.)

  • Meet and exceed quarterly scorecard metrics and goals.

  • Stay up to date with new products and aircraft features.

  • Review operator contracts to ensure selected option(s) meets Magellan’s safety and quality standards.

COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge:

  • 0 - 3 years of experience working in with Part1-135 aircraft charter.

  • High level of comfortability using and navigating the Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook

  • Experience using Salesforce or a similar CRM system

  • Basic financial acumen related to gross profit margins, pricing, and contract terms

  • Familiar with industry pricing structures and charter market dynamics

  • Understanding of aviation regulations including FAA Part 135, 121, and Part 91 oprtational requirements a plus

  • Familiarity with aircraft types, performance capabilities, and categories as plus

  • A bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred; candidates with an equivalent level of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Skills:

  • A keen attention to detail

  • Negotiation and persuasion skills to manage rate discussions with operators and vendors effectively

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to evaluate options and optimize aircraft sourcing based on cost, client needs, and safety

  • Motivated to learn new skills

  • Time management and prioritization skills, especially under pressure during high-demand flight periods

Abilities:

  • Can adapt quickly to dynamic situations and shifting client priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Able to make informed decisions independently, while maintaining alignment with company sourcing standards

  • Can interpret and apply safety and compliance standards in all decision making

  • Experience building and sustaining long-term relationships with operator partners and internal stakeholders

MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (if applicable):

This position doesn’t have any management or supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Location: Primarily office-based, with 1 remote/ work from home day each week. This position does require 1 weekend day of coverage (Tuesday- Saturday).

  • Conditions: General office environment with moderate noise levels. Role requires some weekend and evening hours (5 days per week, including 1 remote day).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Occasional walking/ movement between work areas (e.g., meetings, restrooms, or kitchen).

  • Repetitive Hand and Wrist Movements via frequent typing and use of a mouse.

  • Light lifting of office supplies, documents, or equipment (up to 20 lbs).

  • Screen Use: Prolonged use of a computer screen.

  • Extended periods sitting at a desk or workstation.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a Full-Time Exempt position.

TRAVEL:

Limited, but may require occasional overnight travel for industry conferences, client meetings, or operational oversight at other locations.

This is a bonus-incentivized role that includes a base salary of $60,000–$67,000 with an additional performance-based bonus tied to quarterly gross profit margins. Total earnings depend on experience, location, and quota achievement, with access to Magellan Jets’ full benefits package.
