AVID Tutor (temporary for the 2026-2027 school year)

LOCATIONS: Multiple Secondary Schools

QUALIFICATIONS:

• College student with a minimum of 60 hours and 2.8 G.P.A.
• Strong Math and English background, evidenced by college transcript
• Bachelors or Associate degree (Preferred)

REPORTS TO: AVID District Director/AVID Site Coordinator

JOB GOAL: To aid and support student s and the District by providing tutoring services to AVID elective students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Determine, from student notes and discussions, the concepts that need to be reviewed.
• Evaluate student binders, including calendars, class and textbook notes, etc.
• Assist students in any subject area where help is needed.
• Assist in teaching study skills and other skills needed for college preparation.
• Conduct tutorial sessions in all areas of mathematics.
• Conduct mini-lessons in the process of writing in all subject areas, study skills and other aspects of college preparation.
• Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for AVID students to follow.
• Work with students in any phase of the writing process, such as brainstorming, clustering, revision and editing.
• Communicate frequently and honestly with the AVID Site Coordinator/teacher regarding student progress and areas of concern.
• Must attend six (6) hours of AVID training
• Perform other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary Range: $15.00/hour or $20.00/hour for those who hold a current AR teaching license

Length: Part-time, as needed

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Pulaski County Special School District's Board policy.
