Avionics & Embedded Systems Engineer

Avionics & Embedded Systems Engineer

Location: Croatia or UAE (on‑site)
Employment Type: Full‑time
Compensation: Competitive (salary + benefits)

What Propels Us:

PAiREGRINE is a high‑speed autonomous Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) jet UAV designed to fuse sensors, onboard AI, and secure communications into a compact, mission‑ready aircraft. At the heart of this capability is a tightly integrated avionics and embedded systems stack that must perform reliably under real flight and operational constraints.

Avionics here are not an afterthought—they are the nervous system of the aircraft. This role exists to ensure the electronics, compute, buses, and software work together as a robust, flight‑ready system.

The Impact You’ll Make

You will own the onboard electronics architecture, shaping how computation, power, sensors, and control systems come together in flight. Your work enables autonomy, sensor fusion, and reliable command and telemetry—and directly impacts how the aircraft flies, senses, and communicates.

From early architecture to hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, you ensure the avionics stack is integrated, scalable, and ready for real‑world operations.

What will you actually do?

  • Architect and integrate the aircraft’s avionics and embedded systems stack
  • Design mission computer architecture and onboard compute integration
  • Define power distribution and 28V bus management across avionics and payloads
  • Integrate sensors, payloads, and peripherals over CAN, Ethernet, PCIe, and other high‑speed buses
  • Manage autopilot, flight control, and telemetry system integration
  • Develop embedded software support tools for bring‑up, testing, and debugging
  • Support hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) and system integration testing
  • Work closely with systems, autonomy, propulsion, and payload teams to ensure clean interfaces and reliable operation

What You’ve Done

  • Strong background in avionics engineering or embedded systems development
  • Hands‑on experience integrating real‑time embedded hardware into UAV or aerospace platforms
  • Working knowledge of CAN, Ethernet, PCIe, and other high‑speed interfaces
  • Experience with Linux‑based embedded platforms
  • Comfort bringing up hardware, debugging interfaces, and working close to the metal
  • Experience integrating sensors, autopilots, and onboard compute systems

Bonus Points

  • UAV avionics experience on flight‑tested platforms
  • Familiarity with Jetson, Zynq, or similar embedded compute modules
  • Experience with custom carrier boards, ruggedization, or EMI/EMC considerations
  • Prior exposure to avionics power systems and fault‑tolerant architectures

Why Join Us

  • You’ll be supported and rewarded with competitive compensation while contributing to a mission‑driven program making an impact on a global stage.
  • You’ll own the electronics that power autonomy, sensing, and decision‑making
  • You’ll collaborate in a small, fast‑moving team where integration happens early and often
  • You’ll help build a jet‑class autonomous aircraft from the inside out

Job Type: Full-time

Application Question(s):

  • Have you personally integrated avionics or embedded systems on a UAV or aerospace platform beyond simulation or board‑level development?
  • Have you supported system integration or hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) testing for flight or mission‑critical systems?
  • Do you have hands‑on experience integrating sensors, autopilots, or mission computers over CAN, Ethernet, PCIe, or similar high‑speed buses?
  • Have you designed or owned any part of avionics power distribution (e.g., 28V buses, power budgeting, fault handling, or load management)?
