About the Role
Wyga Ayurveda is seeking an experienced Ayurveda Chef to set up, manage, and lead a vegetarian kitchen within our Ayurveda hospital. The role combines traditional Ayurvedic culinary wisdom with modern kitchen management, ensuring food that supports healing, balance, and patient well-being.
Qualification
- Formal education in Food & Nutrition, Culinary Arts, or Hotel Management – desirable
- Specialized exposure to Ayurvedic dietetics / sattvic cooking will be an added advantage
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience as a chef in Ayurveda hospitals, wellness retreats, or therapeutic kitchens
- Prior experience in similar establishments is mandatory
- Proven ability to set up and independently run a hospital kitchen
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Setup & Operations
- Design, establish, and manage a vegetarian Ayurvedic kitchen aligned with hospital standards
- Plan kitchen layout, workflows, equipment usage, and hygiene protocols
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality standards
Menu Planning & Diet Execution
- Plan and execute general vegetarian (Indian and Cntinental) menus for patients, staff, and guests
- Develop and prepare therapeutic diet menus strictly as per directions of Ayurvedic clinicians
- Customize diets based on Dosha, disease condition, seasonal needs, and treatment plans
Clinical Coordination
- Work closely with doctors and diet counsellors to understand dietary prescriptions
- Ensure accurate execution of prescribed diets without deviation
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in patient-specific diet plans
Team & Staff Kitchen Management
- Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen staff
- Plan duty rosters, kitchen discipline, and performance standards
- Manage staff kitchen operations and menus efficiently
Procurement & Cost Control
- Plan procurement of raw materials ensuring quality and freshness
- Manage inventory, vendor coordination, and cost control
- Minimize wastage while maintaining taste, nutrition, and therapeutic value
Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in Ayurvedic vegetarian cooking
- Leadership and kitchen team management skills
- Excellent planning, organizational, and coordination abilities
- High standards of hygiene, discipline, and attention to detail
- Ability to balance therapeutic requirements with taste and presentation
