Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Customer Engineer

Overview:
We have immediate opportunities for an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer to design, deploy, and operate enterprise-grade virtual desktop and RemoteApp solutions using Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, following Microsoft-supported architectures and best practices. This role is AVD-centric and focuses on host pools, session hosts, identity integration, networking, security, profile management, scaling, and operational performance. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience delivering AVD at scale and supporting customers through architecture design, migration, and steady-state operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Guide customers through the planning, architecture, and adoption of Azure Virtual Desktop solutions for enterprise-scale desktop virtualization and RemoteApp delivery.
  • Lead technical workshops and design sessions focused on AVD host pool strategy, session host planning, application delivery models, and end-user experience optimization.
  • Advise customers on pooled and personal host pools, Windows 11 Enterprise multi-session, full desktop delivery, and RemoteApp scenarios based on workload and persona requirements.
  • Provide architectural guidance across Azure compute, storage, networking, identity, and security layers to support resilient and well-governed AVD environments.
  • Help customers design and operationalize FSLogix profile strategies using Azure Files or Azure NetApp Files, including performance, scalability, and profile-related troubleshooting considerations.
  • Support customer migration planning from Citrix, VMware Horizon, Remote Desktop Services (RDS), and traditional physical desktop environments, including readiness assessments, workload suitability, and migration path recommendations.
  • Advise on identity integration using Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid join scenarios, Active Directory, or Entra Domain Services as appropriate.
  • Guide customers on securing AVD with Conditional Access, MFA, Zero Trust-aligned access controls, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, and Azure networking controls.
  • Provide recommendations for scaling plans, capacity optimization, and operational health improvements to support long-term performance and cost efficiency.
  • Facilitate troubleshooting discussions across sign-in flows, session initialization, profile issues, app launch behavior, and resource contention, helping customers identify root causes and remediation paths.
  • Support customers in developing automation approaches, reusable templates, and operational documentation using PowerShell, ARM/Bicep, Azure CLI, and Microsoft-native tooling.
  • Collaborate with Microsoft teams, internal stakeholders, and customer contacts to ensure alignment with business goals, platform best practices, and customer success plans.
