Backend Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Backend Developer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance server-side systems that support our product roadmap. This role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, experience building APIs and services, familiarity with cloud platforms and databases, and the ability to work cross-functionally with product, frontend, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities for Backend Developer - Architecture, Development & Reliability

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs using best practices for scalability, performance, and security.
• Collaborate with product and frontend engineers to translate requirements into technical designs, define API contracts, and deliver end-to-end features.
• Author clean, well-documented, and testable code; build and maintain comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure quality and reliability.
• Optimize system performance and resource utilization; profile and troubleshoot production issues, and implement fixes and preventive measures.
• Contribute to architecture and design discussions, proposing improvements for service decomposition, data modeling, caching strategies, and fault tolerance.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deploy automation, and infrastructure-as-code to support rapid and safe delivery.
• Manage data storage and retrieval strategies across relational and NoSQL databases, ensuring data integrity, migrations, and efficient queries.
• Ensure system security by applying secure coding practices, managing secrets, and collaborating with security teams on vulnerability remediation.
• Participate in on-call rotation, respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive post-incident improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers, share technical knowledge, and help maintain engineering documentation, coding standards, and best practices.
  
  

Required Qualifications - Backend Developer Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional backend development experience building production services or APIs in a modern programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, Node.js, C#).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, RESTful API design, and service-oriented or microservices architectures.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and at least one NoSQL database (e.g., MongoDB, Redis); proficiency in writing efficient queries and designing schemas.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and experience deploying and operating services in cloud environments.
• Practical experience with CI/CD tooling, automated testing frameworks, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes) is expected.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and performance-tuning skills; attention to code quality, observability, and monitoring.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications - Tools, Frameworks & Experience

• Experience with event-driven architectures, message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ), and stream processing is a plus.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and experience with service mesh or API gateway technologies is desirable.
• Contributions to open-source projects, experience with observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK), or background in performance engineering are advantageous.
• Experience working in B2B SaaS or high-throughput consumer services and with security/compliance requirements (e.g., SOC2) is beneficial.
