Backup Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Storage & Backup Engineer with experience in Veritas NetBackup and/or Commvault to support, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise backup and storage environments. The role involves L1 and L2 operational support, incident management, restore operations, and continuous improvement of backup services in a 24x7 production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage daily backup operations using Veritas NetBackup and/or Commvault.
• Perform backup job monitoring, failure analysis, and corrective actions.
• Execute restore requests including file-level, VM-level, and application-level restores.
• Troubleshoot backup, media, agent, storage, and network-related issues.
• Manage backup policies, schedules, retention, and storage utilization.
• Support disk-based and tape-based backup environments (VTL, LTO).
• Respond to incidents, alerts, and service requests within defined SLAs.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
• Coordinate with storage, OS, database, network, and application teams.
• Support backup upgrades, patching, migrations, and DR drills.
• Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles.
• Mentor junior team members and assist with operational handovers.

Adhere to ITIL processes including Incident, Change, and Problem Management.

Shift

24x7 rotational shifts as per support schedule
