Baker/Barista

Overview
Borden Town Granola Bar is seeking a Baker/Barista to become the heart of a welcoming, energetic environment where breakfast lovers gather! In this combined role, you will craft delicious beverages, assemble breakfast sandwiches & parfaits and deliver exceptional customer service, and ensure every guest leaves with a smile. You will also bake cakes and egg patties during off hours and slow periods. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create memorable experiences for our customers while maintaining a clean, efficient workspace. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in the food and beverage industry while working in a lively, fast-paced setting.

Duties

• Prepare baked goods for sale
• Prepare cafe for opening
• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks with precision and flair
• Prepare and serve food items such as sandwiches and pastries
• Operate Clover POS system to process orders accurately and efficiently
• Manage cash handling, cashiering, and basic math calculations for transactions
• Provide friendly, attentive customer service to ensure a positive café experience
• Maintain food safety standards by following proper food handling and preparation procedures
• Keep the café area clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout your shift
• Assist with food preparation and serving snacks or light menu items as needed
• Take orders in-person, by phone and online
• Provide extra assistance to handicapped customers
• Receive shipments
• Perform any tasks deemed necessary for operation by supervisor
• Operate according to local health code
• Use ovens and other kitchen equipment safely and have basic fire safety knowledge
• Must be smoke-free during shift

Preferred Skills

• BAKING EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED
• Proven experience as a Barista or in the food service industry with strong coffee knowledge
• Familiarity with POS systems like Clover for smooth transactions
• Excellent time management skills to handle busy periods effectively
• Strong sales skills with the ability to upsell beverages and products confidently
• Exceptional customer service skills to create welcoming interactions with guests
• Knowledge of food safety protocols and proper food handling techniques
• Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and register operations

Compensation

$15 per hour + tips
