INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (PATENT) ASSOCIATE

The Newark, New Jersey office of FBT Gibbons is seeking a Patent Associate.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of patent experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech/life science field
  • Advanced degree in chemistry, biology, immunology, or biochemistry or substantial R&D experience is preferred. However, a bachelor’s degree with additional experience as a practicing patent attorney would be considered
  • Experience as an in-house lawyer in small molecule chemistry is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting and prosecuting pharmaceutical patent applications globally, as well as in conducting freedom to operate and patent invalidity and non-infringement analyses
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple time-sensitive projects
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to distill complexity and to communicate decisively with sound judgment.
  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $180,000 to $210,000, reflecting a variety of factors including experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, relevant experience, and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable employment laws.

Associates are also eligible for:

  • Quarterly objective bonus
