Bankruptcy Specialist

Job Description

I. OVERVIEW:

The Bankruptcy Specialist is responsible for monitoring residential mortgage loans in the Bankruptcy process to minimize potential losses and preserve the lien-holder’s interests.

II. EXPECTATIONS:

• Receive and process bankruptcy documents throughout all bankruptcy process.
• Timely and accurately referral of bankruptcy loans to outside council to initiate the filing of proof of claim, objection to plan, motion for relief, transfer of claims, etc. within Court, company and investor regulatory deadlines.
• Properly document the system of record with the bankruptcy chapter details, create BK module tracking, ensure all appropriate flags and stops are in place.
• Gather and upload documents to attorneys such as Assignments of Mortgages, Deeds, Notes, and other documents required for filing actions within the bankruptcy.
• Reviews plans and determines whether the plan is acceptable to investor and recommend action to protect the lien.
• Release loans to Production and/or Foreclosure upon termination of Bankruptcy stay.
• Provides daily phone coverage for both inbound and outbound calls.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

III. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in Mortgage Servicing.
• Minimum of 1 year of Bankruptcy experience required.
• FHA and VA experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with Investor Relations, a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Must be available to work all regularly scheduled hours, arriving at scheduled reporting time and at the prescribed time after any breaks or lunch periods.
