The Banquet Coordinator books, plans, and coordinates parties, banquets, and special events at the Emerald Necklace Marina Party Room and other restaurant locations throughout the park district.
- Serves as event leader for all banquets, parties and other special events at the Emerald Necklace Marina Party Room, and other Cleveland Metroparks restaurant locations as assigned: Meets with clients to sell event space and book events; answer and respond to event inquiries; gather event information and ensure guest needs are being met; prepare proposals, contracts and other necessary documents; determine proper set-up, food, beverage, and other specific guest needs; and coordinate event with appropriate staff.
- Plans and coordinates the logistical execution of parties, banquets and special events including: Scheduling of servers and bartenders, work flow, equipment, supplies, menus; and the set-up, execution, and tear-down.
- Manages events ensuring client needs are met and communicating with key stakeholders regarding guest experience.
- Manages event budgets. Assures that all revenue control procedures related to events are in compliance with Cleveland Metroparks revenue handling procedures.
- Provides prompt and accurate follow-up and communication to guests regarding events.
- Acts as on site host/hostess for events.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of events and promotions in meeting the goals of Cleveland Metroparks and works with the Assistant Restaurant Manager in making improvements.
- Travels to various restaurants and locations throughout the park district to host events, drop off catering, and meet with clients.
- Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
- Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.

Requirements:
- High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree in restaurant management, hospitality, or related field preferred; supplemented by two years of experience in special event management and hospitality; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must possess a valid driver's license under the laws of the State of Ohio. Must be currently certified in, or able to obtain a ServSafe certification.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public.
- Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.
- Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
Work Schedule: Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekend and holidays.
