Barista

We are looking for a new team member to join our team. Using equipment to steam milk, shake drinks, pour latte art, and being comfortable in a specialty coffee atmosphere. Barista responsibilities include educating customers on our drink menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates and being able to warm food with oven then serve to customers. Some knife skills will be needed to handle the food, slicing bread and fruit mostly. You should be able to work various shifts and also be comfortable with changing menu with the seasons. Note: this position’s compensation includes salary and tips. Ultimately, you’ll ensure an excellent experience for our guests. We are not accepting anyone looking for seasonal work(back from college for summer), please do not apply if you are looking for a summer/winter job. Starting pay is $14/hr plus tips and currently our average associate makes $9/hr in tips plus their hourly pay.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers as they enter
• Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
• Prepare beverages following recipes
• Serve beverages and prepared food
• Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
• Keep the bar area and cafe clean
• Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
• Clean dishes

Skills

• Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress
• Hands-on experience with brewing equipment, latte art and attention to detail
• Knowledge of sanitation regulations
• Flexibility to work various shifts
• Basic knife skills
• Basic math skills
• Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
• Excellent communication skills
• High school diploma; relevant training is a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $25.00 per hour
