Barista

We are looking for a full-time Barista (30-40 hours per week) most hours come from our Poulsbo location with occasional Bainbridge Island shifts.

Our baristas prepare and serve hot and cold beverages as well as prepare sandwiches made-to-order. We are willing to train on espresso for the right candidate. Barista responsibilities include educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items, taking orders, preparing food, and keeping the shop clean and inviting. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and be able to obtain a food handler's permit. You should be able to work various shifts. Note: this position’s compensation includes salary + tips (our credit card tips average $6-7/hr). Ultimately, you’ll ensure an excellent dining experience for our guests.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers as they enter
• Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
• Prepare beverages and food orders following recipes
• Serve beverages and food, like cookies, pastries and muffins
• Some light baking
• Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
• Keep the bar area clean
• Maintain stock of clean dishes
• Maintain a clean and orderly environment
• Scoop and serve ice cream
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items

Skills

• Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress or Food Service
• Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
• Knowledge of sanitation regulations
• Flexibility to work various shifts including our busiest times of weekends and holidays
• Basic math skills
• Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
• Excellent communication skills
• High school diploma; relevant training is a plus

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.13 - $17.50 per hour
