About Craft Coffee Parlor

Craft Coffee Parlor has been serving central Kansas since 2013. We’re a locally owned shop on Main Street in McPherson that takes coffee seriously big-city quality with genuine small-town hospitality. We’ve got exposed brick, local art on the walls, a killer front porch, and a 4.8-star reputation because our people actually care about what goes in the cup and who’s drinking it.

We’re not a drive-thru pumping out sugar water. We’re a coffee parlor. If that distinction matters to you, keep reading.

The Job

We’re looking for part-time baristas who can work both weekdays and weekends as needed. You’ll be pulling shots, steaming milk, making drinks the right way, running our Square Register, keeping the shop clean and welcoming, and making every customer feel like they walked into the right place. Some days it’s a steady flow, some days it’s a rush. Either way, you’re the face of Craft.

Sift Schedules

• Monday–Saturday: 6:15 AM - 12:00 PM and 12:00 – 6:30 PM
• Sunday: 11:30 PM – 6:30 PM
• We need coverage across the full week—tell us your availability and we’ll work with you

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and serve espresso drinks, drip coffee, teas, and specialty beverages with consistency and care
• Operate the Square Register, ring up orders, handle payments, and keep the line moving
• Learn our menu inside and out so you can make genuine recommendations, not just read off a board
• Keep the shop spotless: bar, equipment, tables, restrooms, patio... all of it
• Open or close the shop depending on your shift (yes, that means early mornings or end-of-day cleanup)
• Stock supplies, rotate product, and flag anything that’s running low before it’s gone
• Prep food items, baked goods, and anything else we’re serving that day
• Be a real human to the people who walk in regulars and first-timers alike

What We’re Looking For

• Reliable. Full stop. If you’re on the schedule, you show up.
• Friendly and comfortable talking to people. This isn’t a back-of-house gig
• Able to work on your feet for a full shift and hustle when it gets busy
• Quick learner who can follow recipes, take feedback, and get better every week
• College+ age (preferred for scheduling)
• Previous barista or food service experience is great but not required we’ll train the right person

Bonus Points If You…

• Actually love coffee. Like, you have opinions about extraction time or get excited about a new single-origin. That energy is contagious and we want it.
• Have experience with espresso machines, grinders, or latte art
• Know your way around a point of sale system (Square specifically is a plus)
• Have a pulse on McPherson and genuinely enjoy being part of a small-town community
