Barista

Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Barista to join our small team at our coffee shop. We are looking to fill afternoon shifts (12-7). As a Barista, you will play a crucial role in creating an inviting atmosphere for our customers while preparing high-quality beverages and food items. Your ability to connect with customers and provide exceptional service will enhance their experience and keep them coming back for more.

Duties

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, teas, and other beverages according to established recipes and customer preferences (Training will be provided).
• Assist in food preparation, ensuring that all items are fresh and presented attractively.
• Operate the POS (point of sale) system efficiently, handling cash transactions and providing accurate change.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including workstations, equipment, and dining areas.
• Engage with customers to provide assistance, answer questions about menu items, and make recommendations based on their preferences.
• Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure timely service without compromising quality.
• Adhere to food handling safety regulations (training will be provided) to ensure the health and safety of both customers and staff.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a café or food service environment is preferred but not required.
• Strong sales skills with the ability to upsell menu items effectively.
• Proficient in cash handling with basic math skills for accurate transaction processing.
• Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques and food handling guidelines is a plus.
• A friendly demeanor with strong communication skills to engage positively with customers.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Pay: $15.50 - $25.00 per year
