Job Title: Barista

Location: Urban Lodge Taproom and Restaurant, Hartford CT

Reports To: General Manager

Job Summary:

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee and espresso beverages while providing excellent customer service in Urban Lodge Café.. This position typically operates independently and is accountable for opening, closing, and managing all aspects of the coffee shop during assigned shifts.

Responsibilities:

· Prepare and serve coffee, espresso, tea, and specialty drinks consistently and to standard.

· Deliver professional and friendly customer service.

· Operate and maintain coffee equipment, including grinders and espresso machines.

· Open and close the coffee bar, ensuring proper setup, cleaning, restocking, and equipment security.

· Answer phones and assist with guest inquiries when front-of-house staff are unavailable.

· Monitor stock and communicate supply needs to General Manager

· Handle cash, card transactions, and reconcile the register as needed.

· Maintain a clean and organized bar, seating area, and work environment.

· Comply with all health, safety, and sanitation procedures.

· Collaborate with brewery staff to support overall guest experience.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Previous barista or specialty coffee experience a strong plus

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Dependable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively.

· Basic math skills and POS system experience.

· Must be available to work Monday-Saturday between 7am-3pm

Physical Requirements

· Stand and move for extended periods (up to 8 hours).

· Lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

· Frequent bending, reaching, and manual operation of equipment.

Pay: $16.94 - $17.25 per hour
