Job Summary
Located in the heart of downtown Greenville, Nine of Cups is a brand new café that puts an emphasis on quality and hospitality. We will offer more than your average Greenville coffee shop experience, with Rowan Coffee, and featuring an in house baker that specializes in pastries.

We are looking for an experienced, energetic barista to join our front of house staff. In this role, you will be the friendly face that creates memorable experiences for our customers by crafting high-quality coffee and matcha based beverages, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.

Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help ensure every guest leaves satisfied and eager to return.

Pay

  • Pay is structured as hourly + tips and scales with experience and MOD roles

Duties

  • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, teas, and specialty beverages with precision.
  • Cross trained to operate Toast point-of-sale (POS) for taking orders and cash handling.
  • Engage with customers warmly and taking orders accurately while providing knowledgeable recommendations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the counter area.
  • Manage food safety standards by following proper food handling, preparation, and sanitation procedures.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately, including cashing out customers and balancing registers at shift end.
  • Assist with inventory management by restocking supplies and monitoring product freshness.
  • Create an environment that encourages training less experienced employees through demonstration
  • A passion for recipe development and execution is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Previous barista experience or background in coffee service is highly preferred.
  • Experienced in matcha service and recipe development.
  • Familiarity with Toast POS is a plus.
  • Strong time management skills to handle busy periods efficiently while maintaining quality service.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude and clear communication abilities.
  • Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and order accuracy.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards, food handling procedures, and food preparation techniques.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, afternoons, weekends, or holidays as needed.
