Barista

Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Barista to join our team at Coma Coffee! This role is ideal for someone passionate about coffee as a craft; someone who values education, precision, and continuous learning. Our cafe is not just a service environment, but a space for developing coffee knowledge, refining techniques, and deepening the craft.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages while maintaining quality, consistency, and technique
• Continuously develop your understanding of coffee, including origin, processing methods, extraction, and flavor profiling
• Engage customers through coffee education; guiding them through menu offerings, brew methods, and bean selection
• Maintain a clean and organized environment that reflects high specialty coffee standards
• Accurately operate the point-of-sale system and handle transactions
• Participate in ongoing staff training and coffee education initiatives
• Uphold all food safety and quality control standards

Experience

• At least 1 year of specialty coffee experience

Required Skills

• Strong foundational knowledge of espresso preparation, dialing in, and brewing methods
• A genuine interest in continuing to build coffee knowledge and technical skill
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong time management and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting
• Experience with cash handling and POS systems
• Basic math skills for recipe adherence and transactions

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Familiarity with green coffee, sourcing, or roasting concepts
• Understanding of food safety practices
