Santa Canela is a Mexican pastry shop & cafe in Highland Park, Los Angeles, and we're looking for Part-Time Baristas to join our team! We’re a Los Angeles-based Mexican panadería that celebrates Mexican flavors and techniques with seasonal pastries and baked goods created by Loreto & LA Cha Cha Chás’ pastry chef, Chef Ellen.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages and specialty drinks, according to established recipes and standards.
  • Operate espresso machines and other coffee equipment with precision and skill.
  • Welcome customers with a friendly demeanor, take orders accurately, and provide recommendations as needed.
  • Handle cash and cashless transactions and process payments using POS systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop, including brewing stations, serving areas, and seating areas.
  • Restock supplies as needed and ensure proper storage.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the safety and quality of our products.
  • Engage with customers in a positive and professional manner, addressing any inquiries or concerns with efficiency and courtesy.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Barista or in a customer service role, preferably in a coffee shop or café setting.
  • Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and espresso preparation.
  • Valid food handler preferred
  • Basic understanding of math
  • Money and register experience required
  • Be comfortable with repetitive motions such as walking, bending and standing during your scheduled shift.
  • Ability to carry 25 lbs.
