Barista and Bakery Operations Associate

Job Brief

We are looking for a Barista and Bakery Operations Associate at Kingdom Baking Coffee Shop and Bakery in Blaine, MN. Full time or part time hours available. Hours: T-F: 5 am - 1 pm, S-S: 7 am - 3 pm.

This position is a combination of barista and assisting with baking, opening the shop, kitchen prep work.

Responsibilities include preparing and serving hot and cold beverages, bakery items, breakfast and lunch items as well assisting the Baker with baking, scooping and preparing pastries and cakes and preparing and cooking food items such as salads, sandwiches and soups. Specific barista responsibilities include preparing hot and cold beverages, educating customers on our drinks and pastry menu, making recommendations based on customer preferences, upselling special items, taking orders, serving the pastry and food items, preparing food items as directed.

To be successful in this role, you should have a friendly attitude and excellent customer service skills and the ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers as they enter
• Assist customers with questions about drinks, pastries and food items
• Take orders while paying attention to details
• Prepare beverages following recipes
• Serve beverages, pastries and food items
• Receive and process payments
• Assist with preparing food items such as soups, salads and sandwiches
• Keep the bar area clean and routine daily cleaning
• Maintain stocking of supplies
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend special menu items
• Assist baker with preparation of pastries and cakes
• Baking pastries under direction of baker
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Ability to work weekends
• Ability to multitask
• Friendly attitude and excellent customer service skills
• Basic math and computer skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Willingness to be trained in baking
• Previous work experience as a Barista is a plus
• Previous work experience in food service, working in kitchen, baking, cooking

Compensation & Hours

• Hourly position – starting $15/hour
• Full time position - Tues- Fri and some weekend hours - Sat or Sun. Part time hours are negotiable. Primary shift to be covered is 5 am - 1pm on T-F.
