Barista and Cashier

In this fast growing area of D.C, 14th St NW is home to this new, modern cafe that hopes to bring a homey feel to the neighborhood. RUE Cafe’s focus is on great quality, ethically sourced Ethiopian coffee from various regions to give a taste of the origins of this brewed drink. With team members from all over the map, fresh ingredients, unmatched coffee and delicious pastries, RUE delivers on its quality.

Primary responsibilities and requirements:

• Greeting guests in a friendly manner and taking food and drink orders
• Crafting espresso drinks as well as brewing coffee
• Taking food, coffee and pastry orders at the register while handling online orders as well
• Cleaning and maintaining front of house, dining area, and kitchen when necessary
• Preparing and serving beverages, both coffee, espresso and tea based
• Answering guests questions about menu choices
• Consistency and efficiency working on the barista stations and kitchen
• Most importantly, providing customers with a positive and seamless experience.
• Uphold and follow all health, food safety, and safety guidelines

Requirements

• A passion and working knowledge for food and coffee

• Minimum 1 year of experience in the kitchen working in a fast-paced restaurant/café

• Desire and ability to work a flexible schedule.

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• A great attitude and pride in working collaboratively
• Legally permitted to work in the U.S
