Barista and Production Assistant

We’re looking for a new barista and production assistant to join our Tech Park team.

About us

We are making coffee better. We believe that every great coffee experience is the perfect combination of a quality cup, excellent customer service, and a sense of community. We start with finding excellent, ethically sourced coffees, roast them to perfection, and serve them with care and consideration in our cafes.

The position

We are looking for a barista to work 35-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm. Each day will consist of the following:

• Deliveries: 7am arrive at Tech Park, take deliveries to other cafes (note: must be able to lift 30 pounds and must have valid driver’s license to drive Kestrel’s vehicle)
• Barista: work the cafe at Tech Park, and perform all cafe-related tasks: helping customers, cleaning & maintenance, other sidework as assigned
• Packing coffee: scooping beans into bags, labeling bags, etc. Much of this will happen up front, while the cafe is open. Comfort with multitasking is a must!

Qualifications

• Possess exceptional level of customer service, hospitality, and professionalism
• Great attitude and desire to learn
• Ability to function within a team, yet comfortable working solo behind the bar
• Capable of multitasking
• Capable of remaining composed under some stress
• Ability to retain coffee-specific knowledge, and explain those facts to customers with confidence and clarity
• Driver’s license– this person will do our daily local deliveries
• Coffee experience is not required! We love teaching excited, passionate individuals about coffee and great service.

Please note: we do not offer seasonal employment.This is for a full-time, not temporary position. The ideal candidate is looking to join our team and stay for over a year.

Overview

• Pay: $18 to start, with raise(s) within a few months, based on performance
• We do not accept tips.
