Title: Barista - Rembrandt's Coffee Shop

Starting Hourly Rate of Pay: $7.25, plus tips (approximately $12.50, will fluctuate with sales)

Candidates must have holiday and weekend availability.

SUMMARY

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving specialty coffees and other beverages, as well as select food items to patrons of Rembrandt’s, to achieve the highest guest service and satisfaction.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

· High school diploma or equivalent, or working towards diploma.

· Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.

· Excellent time management skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices.

· Good memory to manage multiple orders simultaneously and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent patrons.

· Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and kindly.

PREFERRED:

· Associate degree (or higher).

· Minimum of one (1) year of professional work experience in a restaurant or coffee house, with front-of-the-house and/or back-of-the-house operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee, espresso, and tea to patrons, while correctly customizing orders as requested by the customers.

· Learns and describes product details to customers for all retail products.

· Receives and processes customer payments.

· Serves prepared foods and baked goods, including sandwiches, salads, soups, baked goods, and pastries.

· Ensures customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparation items.

· Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas.

· Sanitizes service and seating areas.

· Confirms proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating, by routinely checking temperatures in the respective equipment.

· Stocks supplies and retail products, as well as assisting with inventory, ordering or receiving products, when directed by management.

· Always sustaining a positive and proactive attitude, to always ensure an exceptionally welcoming customer experience.

· Actively seeking to improve skills, by setting and achieving personal development goals.

· Complying with all health and safety regulations.

· Works closely with kitchen to ensure hot breakfast and sandwich menus are taken to guests

· Ensures all outside and dining room tables are cleaned and organized

· Multitasks by cleaning and organizing outside areas while bringing back dirty dishes

· Moves constantly through coffee shop to fill and stock service stations, bathrooms, retail areas, and other related tasks

· Assists kitchen staff by restocking utensils, food packaging containers, and other necessary items

· Performing other duties, as assigned by the Lead Coffee House Manager and/or the Director of Operations.

· Works varied day or night shift hours, throughout the workweek and weekend, and some holidays.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

· No certifications, license or registrations are required at this time.

· Valid ServSafe Certification is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Prolonged periods of standing at a work counter, with shifts up to nine (9) hours.

· Walking in the coffee house and short distances to entities on the property.

· Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

· Must be able to climb up and down stairs in multi-story buildings.

· Must be able to work in a kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

· 1.5 City blocks of building on the property, which include restaurant, coffee house, meeting venue, art gallery, bed-and-breakfast, bakery, coffee roaster and gardens.

· Multi-story buildings, with stairs.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

· Starting Hourly Rate of Pay: $7.25, plus tips (approximately $12.50, will fluctuate with sales)

· Medical, Dental, Vision for Full-Time Employee = employer pays a minimum of 50% of employee’s premium, indexed annually based on ACA affordability guidelines. (Part-time employee is not eligible for health benefits.)

· Discounts on food are offered to the Employee at the Employee’s worksite, while the Employee is on duty.

· Flexible schedule, as determined by the Lead Coffee House Manager and in accordance with restaurant needs.

· Holidays = Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are the only recognized holidays for the restaurants, although the Inn and Bakery are open; position availability is at the discretion of the Director of Operations and the General Manager
