Position Overview
We are seeking passionate and dedicated Baristas to join our team. As a Barista, you will play a vital role in creating an inviting atmosphere for our customers while preparing high-quality beverages and food items. Your professionalism, polished presence, and commitment to excellence will help ensure that every guest has a memorable experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and food items with precision and care.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including workstations, equipment, and customer areas, while adhering to food safety standards.
• Perform daily cleaning tasks: wiping down counters, sanitizing equipment, sweeping/mopping floors, and managing trash.
• Provide excellent customer service: take orders, offer thoughtful recommendations, and engage guests in a welcoming manner.
• Handle cash and electronic transactions accurately.
• Support inventory management: restock supplies, organize storage areas, and notify management of needs.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive and supportive work environment.
• Stay informed about menu items, seasonal offerings, and brewing techniques.
• Open and close the café efficiently, ensuring stations are fully prepped and cleaned.

Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: 2 years of barista or hospitality experience preferred. However, we are open to training highly motivated candidates with a strong hospitality or customer service background.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Basic math skills for POS transactions.
• High attention to detail, cleanliness, and professionalism.
• Enthusiasm to learn about specialty coffee, brewing methods, and quality standards.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and various shifts.
• A polished and professional appearance that aligns with Qahwati’s boutique atmosphere.

Availability Requirements
We are seeking candidates with long-term availability who can consistently work early mornings, evenings, and weekends. This role may not be a good fit for those with shifting academic schedules or seasonal availability.

Pay Structure
We offer two entry levels based on experience and performance:

Level 1 – Entry-Level Team Memeber

· No prior barista experience required, but strong customer service background and punctuality are essential.

· Must have reliable references and a willingness to learn.

· Base Pay: $12.00/hour

Level 2 – Experienced Barista

· Previous barista experience required.

· Pay is determined based on experience and performance review.

· Base Pay Range: $14.00 – $16.00/hour- tip conservatively adds $4-$5 dollars extra per hour for an average of $18.50-$20.50 per hour.

-Actual tip earnings vary by shift, guest flow, performance, and experience.
