Barista / Sales Associate

Position Overview

The Barista / Sales Associate is responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience while preparing beverages, assisting with macaron production, and maintaining the presentation standards that define BKLYN MACS. This role combines customer service, retail sales, and light pastry production, including assembling and packaging our signature French macarons.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

• Greet customers warmly and create a welcoming in-store experience
• Educate customers about macaron flavors, ingredients, and flavor pairings
• Recommend macaron selections and beverage pairings
• Process transactions accurately using the POS system
• Package macarons and gift boxes with attention to presentation
• Assist customers with custom orders, corporate gifting, and catering inquiries
• Upsell beverages, macaron boxes, and other products

Beverage Preparation

• Prepare coffee and espresso-based beverages according to BKLYN MACS standards
• Maintain consistency and quality in beverage preparation
• Keep the espresso station clean, organized, and stocked
• Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures

Macaron Production & Assembly

• Assist with assembling French macarons by filling shells with ganache, buttercream, or other fillings
• Ensure consistent filling amounts and proper macaron structure
• Match macaron shells by size and color to maintain uniform presentation
• Assist with preparing macaron gift boxes and retail packaging
• Follow production standards to maintain product quality and appearance

Custom Macaron Printing

• Assist with operating edible image printing equipment for custom macaron designs
• Carefully place printed macaron shells and ensure proper alignment and presentation
• Handle custom orders with attention to detail and accuracy
• Assist with packaging printed macarons for corporate events, weddings, and special orders

Product Presentation

• Maintain attractive macaron displays and retail presentation
• Restock macaron cases and packaging supplies throughout the day
• Ensure all products are labeled correctly and displayed neatly
• Rotate product inventory to maintain freshness

Store Operations

• Maintain cleanliness of the café, including counters, display cases, and seating areas
• Assist with opening and closing procedures
• Monitor inventory levels and notify management when supplies are low
• Support team members during busy service periods
• Help receive and organize deliveries

Brand Representation

• Represent BKLYN MACS with professionalism and enthusiasm
• Maintain knowledge of seasonal flavors and new product launches
• Contribute to a positive team environment and excellent customer experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous café, bakery, pastry, or retail experience preferred
• Interest in coffee, pastries, or hospitality
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail and presentation

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced café and kitchen environment

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour
