Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled, responsible, and friendly Barista/Line Cook to join our team. We are a small local cafe serving coffee beverages as well as made to order breakfast and lunch, with a robust summer catering schedule.

All of our team members cross-train to be able to help in all facets of the business and truly support each other in all tasks. Your focus will be as a closer, who may work by themself, so the ability to master both barista and line cook tasks are essential. This will include cooking on the grill, food prep, dishes, mopping, etc, not just making coffees. Ability to multitask and prioritize is crucial.

As a Barista, you will greet customers, take orders, prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, make simple breakfast and lunch orders and maintain a clean, stocked and organized workspace. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and have a passion for great coffee, local food, and community. They will also be responsible for opening drive-thru for the day, cash handling required.

Responsibilities:

• Greet customers and take orders, use a digital POS system
• Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks
• Operate coffee equipment, such as espresso machines and grinders
• Handle cash and credit card transactions
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace
• Stock and replenish supplies as needed
• Answer customer questions about menu items and ingredients
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines
• Other duties as required

Skills/Experiences:

• Previous experience as a Barista, line cook, or in a similar role preferred, but not required.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of coffee and tea brewing techniques desirable.
• Ability to operate coffee equipment, such as espresso machines and grinders
• Strong communication skills
• Team player
• High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Ability to bend, stoop, and reacH

Salary: $16/hr, plus pooled tips once trained on all roles

Schedule: Exact schedule and hours flexible for the right person, but immediate need for closing Tuesdays and Thursdays, availability for those are a must, other shifts also available. Weekend availability desirable. Interest in picking up extra catering shifts also desireable.
