Job Overview
We are seeking an Experienced Barista to join the Gumption Coffee team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee, attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, follow through with tasks & requests, and follow our training to help you work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role offers an opportunity to hone your skills in food and beverage preparation, POS systems, and retail operations while providing an exceptional experience to our customers.
This role is for all our locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Duties

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages and other menu items with precision and care
• Operate Square POS with accurate order taking, processing and cash handling
• Manage customer orders efficiently, ensuring timely service during busy periods
• Prep beverages, restock items and check inventory
• Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in the café area, including food preparation and handling
• Assist customers with product selections, answer questions about menu items, and provide excellent customer service
• Handle cash transactions accurately, including cash handling and cashiering responsibilities
• Restock supplies on shelves as needed and ensure the café environment is welcoming and organized
• Follow food safety protocols and health regulations at all times

Experience

• Minimum 2 years barista experience is REQUIRED. Applicants with less than 2 years barista experience or none will not be considered favorably.
• Familiarity with POS systems such as Square is a plus
• Strong self time management to handle multiple orders efficiently during peak hours is a must.
• Experience in food service, retail math, or the food industry
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations for cash handling and sales transactions accurately
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude and professional demeanor
• Knowledge of food safety standards, food preparation, serving techniques, and proper food handling procedures

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $26.03 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 – 36.0 per week
