BARTENDER
POSITION SUMMARY
The bartender is responsible for quickly and courteously responding to guest requests for beverages. The bartender is responsible for monitoring alcoholic beverage service to individuals, ensuring intoxicated or underage guests are not served alcohol but are offered alternatives. This job also requires high level of organization, cleanliness and ability to handle a fast-paced environment. Each team member is expected to assist when and where necessary during an event to ensure flawless execution. The Bartender is expected to perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identifies bar related event specific items from event sheets
- Ensures all products are properly set for beverage service in the correct time frame.
- Conduct regular pour tests and taste tests for proper drink construction and quality.
- Ensures all beverages are constructed according to identified standards.
- Keeps product fresh and rotated using first in, first out system.
- Keeps any refrigerated product properly stocked.
- Completes all setup and breakdown duties assigned by Head Bartender.
- Completes all cleaning procedures assigned by Head Bartender.
- Adheres to any venue specific setup procedures.
- Is aware of event timelines and assists in proper transitions.
- Adheres to all job relevant manuals, checklists, and standard operating procedures.
- Maintains an organized storage system to easily restock all products.
- Reports any venue-wide product shortages in a timely manner to Head Bartender for proper restock.
- Monitors guest consumption to ensure proper restock of product.
- Uses proper tools and procedures associated with execution of beverage service.
- Handles product properly and serves product at appropriate temperatures.
- Properly transports and disposes of any waste materials.
- Properly transports all tools and equipment to beverage service areas and bars.
- Uses proper bussing and cleaning procedures.
- Greets all guests in friendly and professional manner.
- Takes time to review products with guests and offers suggestions/alternatives if a requested item is unavailable.
- Notifies Head Bartender when a special request is made; follows instruction of Head Bartender on resolution.
- Monitor guest consumption to avoid over-serving.
- Requires identification to avoid serving underage guests.
- Reports any visibly intoxicated guests to Head Bartender before making any decisions regarding service.
- Keeps service areas and stations clean and restocked through the entire course of the event
- Establishes and maintains effective relations with both co-workers and managers.
- Balances teamwork and individual responsibilities.
- Gives and welcomes constructive feedback.
- Puts success of team above personal interests.
- Actively participates in meetings when requested.
- Works cooperatively in group situations.
- Able and willing to fill in as needed, with or without request.
- Treats barbacks with courtesy and respect when requesting product to be restocked.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Education: High school diploma or GED
Certificates/Licenses: RAMP Certificate required within 90 days of hire
Work Experience: At least 2 years’ related experience
Mathematical: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and volume.
Reasoning: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Freedom from illegal use of drugs and freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT
(Frequency of mobility, lifting, climbing, standing, siting, reaching, speaking, vision, color vision, outdoors/indoors, noise level, fumes/odor, chemical exposure or any other environmental hazards)
- Prolonged periods of standing, climbing/balancing, stooping/bending.
- Ability to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
- Requires ability to communicate clearly and concisely using the English language with guests.
- Ability to sustain long periods of loud noise and vibrations
- Use of color vision and vision.
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment including exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, or snow.
