Reports to: Assistant Food & Beverage Manager, Bar Manager

Supervises: No supervisory duties are included in this position

Education and Experience

  • High School Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Two to three years experience in food and beverage with a minimum of one year of bartending experience preferred. Preference is given to those with membership club experience.
  • Must be a team player and customer service oriented.

  • Must be able to read menus, articulate clear greetings and farewells to Guests, as well as being able to understand requests for assistance.
  • Carefully follows all laws and club policies and procedures regarding alcoholic beverage service and informs manager if service to a member or guest is in question.
  • Ability to differentiate between different types and brands of liquors, beers, and wines.

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Responsible for providing beverage service to club members and guests at Glen Eagle Country Club.

Job Tasks/Duties

  • Inspects the bar prior to opening to ensure that adequate supplies are available.
  • Maintains efficient records for department leader of supplies and special items that are required or that need to be ordered.
  • Knowledge of all bar products.
  • Requests additional supplies as necessary and stocks the bar.
  • Follows set-up procedures.
  • Prepares garnishes, mixes and pre-mixed drinks.
  • Greets members and guests.
  • Mixes, prepares and serves drinks to members and guests and mixes and prepares drinks ordered by food servers and beverage servers according approved recipes.
  • Collects payment for food and drinks served.
  • Recommends wine to members/guests and serves wine tableside when necessary.
  • Reports complaints to a manager as soon as they occur.
  • Maintains and cleans bar area, equipment and appropriate glassware.
  • Maintains records of liquors, beers, wine and sundries to ensure bar stock are maintained at all times.
  • Cleans and locks up the bar area according to prescribed procedures.
  • Maintains record of liquors, beers, and wine to ensure par stock is maintained at all times.
  • Complies with all laws/policies relating to the service of alcohol.
  • Charges the bill to members’ account.
  • Advises Department Leader of any complaints.
  • Attends staff meetings including pre-shift (line-up) sessions as required.
  • Serves drinks and/or food to members and guests seated at lounge tables in the absence of a food and beverage server.
  • Turns in signed chit and shift report daily.
  • Continually practices beverage and revenue control procedures.
  • Thanks members and guests; invites them to return.
  • After finishing duties pertaining to the bar, he/she is to help on the floor until the entire team is finished for their shift.
  • Completes other appropriate work assignments as requested by the Floor Manager, Banquet Captain, and Assistant Food and Beverage Director.

Licenses and Special Requirements

  • Alcohol beverage certification – TIPS.
  • Food safety certification – ServSafe.
  • Of legal age to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
  • Push, pull or lift up to 75 pounds – accommodations can be made.
  • Continuous repetitive motions.
  • Work in hot/cold, humid and noisy environment.
