Bartender

Wallaby’s Bar & Grille is hiring Bartenders to join our team this summer. We’re looking for reliable, high-energy individuals who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and deliver great service behind the bar.

While we have more weekday availability for bartenders, applicants should still be available for at least 1–2 weekend shifts, as these are our busiest times.

Bonus: We’re the only restaurant in Ames with a rooftop patio—come be part of the action!

About the Position:

• Part-time Bartender positions for summer, with the option to continue into the fall
• Mix of weekday (AM & PM) and weekend shifts available
• Must be available for at least 1–2 weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday)
• Responsibilities include preparing drinks, providing excellent guest service, handling payments, and maintaining a clean, organized bar area

Training Process:

• Most new hires will start as Servers and complete server training first
• Transition into bartending typically occurs after a few weeks based on performance and readiness

What We’re Looking For:

• Friendly, outgoing, and dependable
• Able to multitask and stay efficient under pressure
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Must be at least 18 years old

• Prior bartending or serving experience preferred, but not required—we will train the right candidates!

Pay & Perks:

• Average earnings of $21–$29/hour including tips (based on 2024 averages; actual earnings may vary)

• Interviews are scheduled Monday–Friday, with hiring decisions made by the end of each week
• This cycle repeats each week until all positions are filled
