Bartender (Part-Time)
Gebhard’s Beer Culture is a neighborhood craft beer destination on the Upper West Side, offering an ever-changing draft lineup, a thoughtfully stocked bottle shop, a full bar, and a kitchen serving elevated comfort fare. Opened in 2016 as a companion to Beer Culture on West 45th Street, our mission has always been to create a welcoming space where beer enthusiasts and newcomers alike can explore and connect.
We’re looking for a part-time bartender who thrives in an independent role, delivers genuine hospitality, and enjoys introducing guests to new beers and flavors in a lively setting.
Position Overview
- Location: Upper West Side, Manhattan
- Schedule: Part-time, beginning with 1–2 consistent shifts weekly (approx. 15–25 hours). Opportunities for additional shifts based on staffing needs. Flexibility is highly valued.
- Pay: Minimum wage plus tips
What You’ll Do
- Provide friendly, attentive service while preparing and serving beer, simple cocktails, and menu items
- Guide guests through our rotating draft list and packaged selections with informed, approachable recommendations
- Operate the POS system accurately (experience with TouchBistro is helpful but not required)Confidently manage the bar solo during assigned shifts while maintaining service standards
- Balance multiple tickets efficiently, ensuring accuracy and presentation
- Process cash and card payments responsibly
- Keep bar and service areas clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety guidelines
- Replenish stock and support inventory upkeep
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and management to ensure smooth operations
- Follow all responsible beverage service practices and contribute to a safe environment
- Complete opening and closing side work as needed
What We’re Looking For
- At least 1 year of bartending experience
- Strong familiarity with craft beer styles and draft systems; cocktail basics a plus
- Enthusiasm for beer education; appreciation for Belgian and international styles is beneficial
- Ability to stay organized and composed in a high-volume setting
- Self-sufficient yet team-focused mindsetDependable, communicative, and proactive about helping with shift coverage
- Comfort with nights, weekends, and holiday availability
- Basic math and transaction accuracy skills
- Prior food service knowledge and understanding of sanitation standards preferred
- Must be 21+ and authorized to work in the United States
