The Bartender is a tipped position that delivers exceptional beverage service in alignment with Mission Ranch’s hospitality standards. This role prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes, maintains accurate cash and sales handling, ensures a clean and organized bar environment, and complies with all responsible beverage service laws and company policies.
The Bartender must demonstrate strong product knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer, and food offerings while providing warm, attentive service. This position requires professionalism, efficiency in a fast-paced environment, and adherence to Mission Ranch’s uniform and grooming standards.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes, ensuring consistency in quality, portion control, and presentation

Verify guest identification and ensure compliance with California alcohol service laws and RBS guidelines

Monitor guest alcohol consumption and refuse service when appropriate

Provide professional, attentive guest service while demonstrating product knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer, and restaurant offerings

Anticipate guest needs and resolve concerns promptly and courteously

Accurately enter orders into POS system and process payments
-
Balance cash drawer and reconcile sales at end of shift

Maintain accurate inventory levels and follow FIFO (first-in, first-out) rotation procedures

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bar area, including completion of opening and closing side work

Wash, polish, and properly store glassware

Ensure bar equipment and tools are maintained in safe working conditions

Work collaboratively with servers, barbacks, kitchen staff, and management

Support banquet or catered events as assigned

Follow all Cal/OSHA, health department, food safety, and responsible beverage service regulations

Use equipment safely and follow proper lifting techniques when handling kegs, cases, or supplies

Maintain professionalism and composure in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications & Skills
§ Strong working knowledge of classic cocktails, wine service, and beer
§ CA Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification required
§ CA Food Handler Card required
§ Strong mathematical and cash-handling skills
§ Excellent communication, teamwork, and guest service skills
§ Ability to multitask efficiently during high-volume service
§ Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
§ Must be at least 21 years of age (per California alcohol service regulations)
Education & Experience
§ High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
§ Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in a quality restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting
Physical Requirements

Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift

Frequently use hands and arms to mix, pour, garnish, and serve beverages

Lift and carry bar supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation

Bend, stoop, reach, and move quickly in confined service areas

Maintain balance while working behind bar stations

Hear and communicate clearly in a busy environment

Specific vision abilities include close vision for reading tickets and measuring pours
Work Environment

A fast-paced, guest-service environment with frequent interruptions and time-sensitive demands
- Moderate to high noise levels during peak service hours from guests, music, and restaurant equipment

Indoor and occasional outdoor exposure, including variable temperatures when greeting or seating guests near patios or entryway

Bright or dim lighting conditions depending on time of day and section of the restaurant

Proximity to kitchen and service areas, which may include exposure to food aromas, cleaning chemicals, and hot surfaces
